Shawna Witt is a STEM Education Coordinator with DRI’s Science Alive K-12 program. She helps create, manage, and coordinate various K-12 STEM-based programs, as well as community outreach events. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Environmental and Resource Science from Nevada State College and has 10 years of prior experience working as a preschool teacher.

EnergySmart Education
In partnership with NV Energy and Southwest Gas, this K-12 program is geared towards educating students across Nevada about energy and energy savings.
STEM Force
An annual 10-week program aimed to introduce youth of underserved communities to STEM careers. Starts with 6 weeks of STEM experience through workshops, field trips, hands-on activities, and guest speakers, and ends with a 4 week internship in a STEM career of their interest.
NASA HOLA
NASA Hands On Learning Activities (HOLA) — NASA-themed STEM kits designed to promote interest in NASA and play-based STEM activities. Aimed towards children in 3rd through 5th grade, kits were sent out to libraries across the state.
