Common Questions
Who can use Green Boxes?
Green Boxes are available to all educators in Nevada. You can use Green Boxes inside and outside of classrooms. Anybody can rent a Green Box for any occasion including but not limited to outreach events, after-school programs, rainy day activities to do indoors, school clubs, non-profits, and more! How you decide to use a Green Box is up to you!
How many students can a Green Box reach?
Elementary school Green Boxes are designed to reach 1 class of 32 students. Middle school and high school Green Boxes are designed to reach 5 class periods of 30 students (150 students total). Green Box STEM Kits (for all ages) are designed to reach 150 learners. As part of the checkout process, you will have the option to request additional materials if you need them, if weight permits.
How do I reserve a Green Box?
You can reserve a Green Box by clicking this reservation link and filling out the prompted information. The process should only take a few minutes!
How do I return my Green Box?
You can find return instructions at the back of your curriculum binder. For convenience, here’s a summary:
- Securely attach the return tag found in the back of your curriculum binder, using tape if necessary.
- Schedule a pickup for a date and time that works for you using this return link.
- Bring your Green Box to the front desk of your site and notify staff of the pickup day and time.
What should I do if the Green Box I want is not available?
Green Boxes are shipped on a first-come, first-served basis. Some boxes are very popular and may get booked out quickly. When a Green Box is returned, our team replenishes the supplies and updates the reservation platform to show availability.
What if an item in the Green Box breaks?
Items breaking and going missing are a natural part of the Green Box process. When you return the Green Box, our team will replace any broken or missing items at no cost to you.
Are there trainings on how to use these Green Boxes?
The STEM Education Team at DRI hosts many professional development opportunities to build your confidence in using Green Boxes. You can find information on all upcoming trainings on our Educator Professional Development page.
How are Green Boxes made?
The STEM Education team works with educators, partners, and scientists to write grants for different funding sources to create new Green Boxes. Once funding is secured, our curriculum team develops the lessons, which are then piloted by educators in their classrooms. After gathering feedback and making improvements, we publish the final version of the box on our website for educators to book.
