Ecological Engineering Laboratory
Lab Description
The Ecological Engineering Laboratory conducts research on fate and transport of contaminants in the environment and the effects of the contaminants on the ecosystem and humans. The research focuses on emerging contaminants such as pharmaceuticals, personal care products, endocrine disrupting chemicals, fluorinated compounds (PFAS), and microplastics. We study the occurrence, distribution, removal, and fate and transport processes of these contaminants in both natural and engineered environments. The research aims to improve knowledge on water quality and human exposure related to emerging contaminants.
