DESCRIPTION:Nevada Robotics will provide three 2-hour workshops for Lomie Heard staff focused on the use of the VEX GO robot in a classroom setting These three workshops will take place on Wednesdays at Lomie Heard between 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. on 3/23\, 3/25\, and 4/29. \nDuring the workshops\, the educators will learn how to build and code the VEX GO. They will explore various builds and coding options. Teachers will also explore how to use VEX GO parts for engineering and design challenges. \nNevada Robotics staff members will collaborate with Lomie Heard staff to develop and write a 20-lesson scope and sequence plan for using VEX GO in the third-grade classrooms. \nThese lessons will be designed to fit appropriately into the school’s larger robotics and computer science scope and sequence for grades K-5.

DESCRIPTION:We welcome you to attend the Nevada Robotics Pilots Peak Drone Competition on March 7 at the Boys and Girls Club Reynolds Center Club Facility in Reno. \nAbout the Event\nThis is a blended tournament and the first to be held at the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows! \nRegister a Team\nTo register a team for this competition\, visit the RECF Aerial Drone site at recfevents.org \nImportant Notes \n\n\nThere is a limit of 4 teams per organization that can register for this event. \n\n\nTeams must submit the Competition Logbook by uploading their digital logbook or scanned copy of their physical logbook using the coach’s RECFevents account if they want it considered for judging. The deadline for Logbooks to be uploaded is Wednesday\, Feb. 25 by 6pm local time. How to Submit a Competition Logbook. \n\n\nAll participants attending any official REC Foundation event must complete a Participant Release Form. DESCRIPTION:METRICS (Mentoring Educators Teaching Robotics and Innovation in Computer Science) is an engaging and ongoing training using Nevada Robotics’ Books and Bots Lessons. Teachers learn how to use robots to meet PreK-5 literacy and math standards\, and how to develop early readers\, critical thinkers\, and problem solvers. \nTeachers may receive a $375 stipend or a certificate for PD hours for this 7.5-hour training series. Participants also receive dinner\, teaching resources\, robots\, and books. DESCRIPTION:Nevada Robotics is honored to be included in the line-up of partners who will be tabling at the Nevada Department of Education’s Family Engagement Summit Resource Fair from 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Saturday September 13 at the Northwest Career and Technical Academy. \nThis event is a sponsored by the Nevada Department of Education and the Clark County School District with the goal of bringing “together families/caregivers\, educators\, and community partners in supporting students with: \n-Family and Community Resources\n-Mental health\, school safety\, and academic success strategies\n-Strong two-way communication between families and schools” \nNevada Robotics will offer demonstrations and provide hands-on activities for families using robots\, building materials\, and storybooks. DESCRIPTION:Nevada Robotics is proud to continue its partnership with Douglas County Schools this year by providing support for the Thursday September 11 Literacy and STEM Night at Gardnerville Elementary School. \nIn Spring 2025\, 27 Douglas County PreK/K educators participated in Nevada Robotics three-part METRICS – Mentoring Educators Teaching Robotics and Innovation in Computer Science – professional development.  The teachers explored using robots as learning tools to teach technology/computer science\, math\, and literacy/ELA standards using lessons called Books and Bots. These lessons\, which are a Nevada Robotics original innovation\, partner popular story books with activities to enhance basic concepts in a variety of disciplines.
