He has been involved in the development and use of a multitude of aerosol instruments, and he has approximately 15 peer-reviewed publications in these areas. He is a co-inventor of the nanoparticle aerodynamic lenses for efficiently delivering nanoparticles into aerosol mass spectrometers (US patent 7476851) and the TSI DustTrak DRX Aerosol Monitor for size segregated aerosol mass concentration measurement in real time (USPTO Application 20090039249).

Research Areas

  • Pollution source characterization
  • Aerosol instrument development
  • Computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • Aerodynamic focusing of particles
