HOW: Brief ceremony with students, faculty, State Senator Mark Amodei, Assemblywoman Bonnie Parnell, Carson City Mayor Marv Texeira, Sierra Pacific Resources President and CEO Walter Higgins, Sierra Pacific Power Co. President Jeff Ceccarelli, DRI Research Foundation Trustee and Chair of the GreenPower Committee Jim Kropid and school board members.

VISUALS: Solar array, wind generator, student display of renewable energy projects and $100 savings bond from Wells Fargo presented to naming contest winner.

BACKGROUND:The Carson Middle School installation marks the seventh GreenPower installation in the state. The GreenPower program is a partnership between the Desert Research Institute, DRI's Research Foundation, Sierra Pacific Power Co. and Nevada Power. The program is supported by voluntary customer contributions made by customers of Nevada Power and Sierra Pacific Power companies through their monthly utility bills. All contributions are 100 percent tax deductible.
