Volcanic Ash Suspension

Mount St. Helens remains an active threat to communities and infrastructure in Washigton's Cascade Range. DRI researchers are studying volcanic ash resuspension by wind to help determine engineering requirements for regional facilities in preparation for a potential volcanic eruption in the future.

Meet Hans Moosmüller, Ph.D.

Hans specializes in the study of aerosols, which are tiny particles of solids or liquids that become suspended in the atmosphere and canimpact air quality, climate, and visibility (i.e., dust, wildfire smoke, smog).
