IMG 5596At our annual Celebration of Science event in September 2019, we recognized our incredible DRI family. In addition to honoring faculty and staff celebrating service milestones with the Institute, we also presented internal awards to some of our outstanding faculty and staff.

Q&A with Charlene Martin, DRI’s 2018 Technical Employee of the Year

Charlene Martin TEOY 2018Each year, faculty, students, and staff have the opportunity to nominate those technologists they believe go above and beyond to make DRI a great place to work for the Technical Employee of the Year award. From those nominations, a council of technical employees selects the recipient of the award. This year, the recipient is Charlene Martin, a financial accounting specialist who has served DRI for 24 years.

Michael Dettinger among 2018 class of AAAS lifetime fellows

Mike DettingerMichael Dettinger, Ph.D., a leading climate researcher in Nevada and valuable partner in DRI's hydrologic sciences research, has been named a lifetime Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Dettinger is one of 416 AAAS members receiving this honor this year, and one of just ten in the Atmospheric and Hydrospheric Sciences section.

Craig Rosen Selected as National STEM Ambassador

One of just 50 national education, business, and non-profit professionals chosen for the honor, DRI's Craig Rosen was invited to collaborate with STEM leaders from around the country at the STEM Leadership Alliance Summit on July 8th through 11th. Their goal? To address current questions and challenges facing STEM education and create an agenda for meaningful change.
