NASA/DFRC Climate Change Adaptation Workshop |
|
NASA Dryden Flight Research Center and the Desert Research Institute organized a workshop to discuss climate change adaptation for DFRC and the surrounding Antelope Valley region of the Mojave Desert. The workshop was held at DFRC in Palmdale, CA on August 2 and 3, 2011.
The workshop addressed the following questions:
- What is our current knowledge of the effects of climate change in the Mojave Desert and specifically its impact on DFRC facilities and people for the present through 2080?
- What research is necessary to improve predictions and their certainty?
- What adaptation and mitigation steps can be taken now?
- What steps should be taken in the future?
The workshop was attended by scientists studying climate change in the Mojave Desert, land managers from the Antelope Valley and broader Mojave Desert regions and local groups interested in climate change impacts in this region.
