Title: Research Professor Professional InterestsDr. Johann Engelbrecht, Research Professor in the Division of Atmospheric Sciences (DAS) at the Desert Research Institute (DRI), has more than 20 years experience in air quality studies in South Africa, U.S.A, and elsewhere, and more than 40 years experience in Geology, Geochemistry, and Mineralogy. His qualifications in the Earth Sciences (Mineralogy, Geochemistry, Geology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Statistics) and experience in Program Management allows him to participate in a variety of multidisciplinary air quality and other environmental projects. Since joining the DRI in Reno Nevada, Dr. Engelbrecht has been principal or co-principal investigator on a variety of air quality studies, including the MARAMA receptor modeling study, the VISTAS organic tracers and CMB study, the DOE’s Yucca Mountain air quality monitoring study, the DOD’s Middle East, Enhanced Particulate Matter Surveillance Program, and the Lake Tahoe Source Attribution study. He is also the laboratory manager of DRI’s X-ray diffraction facility. |
