| CERM: Center for Environmental Remediation and Monitoring |
Dr. Jenny Chapman in the field
The Center for Environmental Remediation and Monitoring (CERM) was established in 2003 through a gift to DRI, in honor of Frank H. Rogers, the first chief operating officer of the Nevada Test Site. CERM was designed to promote and build on successful interdisciplinary research in environmental remediation, monitoring, and public health protection for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and other research sponsors around the world. Drawing from the expertise and knowledge developed from each of DRI's three Divisions, and from faculty and staff at both DRI's Northern and Southern facilities, CERM's interdisciplinary approach has resulted in the development of new technologies and methods that are changing our future. CERM researchers
Innovative strategies, methods, and technologies bring DRI to the forefront with federal agencies and state and local governments. CERM research focuses on these strategies, methods, and technologies for environmental remediation and monitoring; risk assessment and environmental and human health; long-term stewardship for sites with residual risks or waste disposal sites; and maintains stakeholder involvement in environmental management. CERM VisionThe vision of CERM is to expand upon successful research programs and develop new technologies for evaluating, detecting, monitoring, remediation, and management of global resources for human health. |
