The Center for Advanced Visualization, Computation and Modeling (CAVCaM) is an interdisciplinary science center within DRI. Since its creation in 2005, the center's goal has been to integrate state-of-the-art visualization and virtual reality tools with collaborative expertise. This integration will enhance environmental research leading to synergistic scientific achievements.

The vision of CAVCaM is to utilize developing technologies in computer graphics, computer interfaces, and scientific computing for the enhancement of scientific research that is fundamental to our environment.

To achieve this vision, CAVCaM strives to maintain a state-of-the-art visualization system, improve data collections, simulations, and analyses of scientific information from the environment. Advancements will create new capabilities for multidisciplinary research, produce top tier visualization environments for use by the broader scientific community, and offer opportunities to improve management decisions including prediction, planning, mitigation, and public education throughout Nevada and the world.
