The overall goal of the WAWI program is to improve the health and well being of families and communities in Ghana, Mali and Niger. The problems being addressed in the Mali Agricultural Component are the need to improve rural smallholder farmers' income and nutrition and to introduce sustainable irrigation practices in two of the poorest regions of the country (Segou and Mopti regions). The component is targeting areas where the sustainable production of high value crops using micro-irrigation technologies is feasible.
