The Lost River and Shortnose sucker were listed as endangered in 1988 and a recovery plan was finalized in 1993. Since that time substantial information has been obtained on species distribution, abundance, genetics, life history, and threats. This new information needs to be incorporated into a revised plan. The 1993 plan did not include object quantitative demographic recovery criteria because of the lack of information on the species status. Specific demographic recovery criteria and recovery factor criteria are needed in the revised plan. The original plan was done without a recovery team and peer review. A technical team and peer review is needed in the revised plan. The original plan was also done without much involvement of stakeholders and public. The revised plan needs input from those with local knowledge.
