Professional Interests

Dr. Mark Hausner’s research focuses on the movement of energy in the environment, which includes assessing spatial and temporal temperature variations and the physical processes that control heat transfer. His work integrates field observations of temperature with physical models of heat transfer processes and uses these models to examine the links between temperature and environmental processes, such as climate change, ecosystem alteration, and biogeochemical cycling. Dr. Hausner is currently studying the ecosystem of Devils Hole in Death Valley National Park, green roofs for semiarid and arid regions, the use of heat as a tracer in complex aquifers, and field methods for distributed temperature sensing (DTS) systems.
