| Geochemistry, Isotope Hydrology and Water Quality Support for the Nye County Nuclear Waste Repository Project Office |
Project DescriptionDRI will review existing water chemistry information for Pahrump Valley and in the Amargosa Desert hydrographic basin, and adjoining areas that may be in hydraulic communication wit that basin, and prepare plans for the sampling and analysis of groundwater and spring water samples to augment and expand on the existing information. DRI will implement those plans through the field collection of water samples, transport of those samples to analytical laboratories under appropriate chain-of-custody, and provide for the laboratory analyses of the samples for gross chemistry (major anions and cations), carbon isotopes, stable isotopes, tritium, noble gas and strontium. |
Landscape and the Environment
Applying science to environmental issues such as climate change, water recharge, flooding, and contaminant transport.
Solving Critical State Water Problems
Quality research and dedication to science has established DHS as Nevada's Water Resources Research Institute.
Hydrologic Sciences and Water Mgt.
DHS faculty teach in both UNR's Hydrologic Sciences and UNLV's Water Resources Management Graduate Programs.
