Lake Mead Mussels

Experts gathered in Las Vegas as UNLV hosted the Lake Mead Science Symposium. The event brought local and regional scientists together to discuss the economic and ecological impact the quagga mussels are having on the lake.

Project Highlights

In the future, the impact of the quagga mussels on the general public could be:

  • the spread of the mussels to Lake Tahoe
  • a terrible threat to aquatic life - especially fish
  • hydroelectric concerns in the Lower Colorado River Valley
