Antarctica WAIS Divide Ice Core Study
Antarctica WAIS Divide Ice Core
Dr. Kendrick Taylor in Antarctica

DRI's Dr. Kendrick Taylor is the Chief Scientist for the WAIS Divide ice core Project which is studying paleoclimate and ice dynamics in West Antarctica. This NSF funded multi-year multi-institution project will record climate change extending 100,00 years.

This information can improve our understanding of why climate changes have occurred in the past and how climate will change in the future.

Project Highlights

  • record climate change extending 100,000 years
  • determine if past changes influence climate now and in the future
  • investigate stability of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet
  • investigate biology of deep ice
