Drs. Henry Sun and Alison Murray recently traveled to Death Valley National Park in California to share their expertise with park visitors. Henry Sun gave a talk entitled "Life in Rocks" where he described the many organisms that live inside rocks (endolithic organisms) and how they are protected from the harsh climates where they reside. Alison Murray talked one-on-one with visitors about her research as a molecular biologist, focusing on her work in Antarctica and life in extreme environments.
Death Valley is one of many locations on earth that has been used as an analog to study conditions as they may exist on Mars and in other extraterrestrial locations.
