Lab Description
The curation facility, located at the new Science and Technology Building in Las Vegas, is a state-of-the-art storage facility that includes features mandated under the Code of Federal Regulations (36 CFR79). These include climate control, security systems, and inventory control using bar coding equipment. The current collection is available for scholarly research and includes almost 500,000 artifacts recovered from the Nevada Test Site (NTS) in the southern Great Basin. The artifacts include items such as the snare triggers shown below which were found in a rockshelter in Fortymile Canyon. Above right: a nearly complete winnowing basket found in a rockshelter in Fortymile Canyon (NTS). Right: Snare triggers.
