DEES maintains research capabilities at four main facilities, including (1) research labs and offices in the Northern Nevada Sciences Center (NNSC), Reno, (2) the Frits Went Laboratory for Ecophysiology, Reno, (3) research labs and offices at the Southern Nevada Science Center (SNSC), Las Vegas, and (4) in the Frank H. Rogers Science and Technology Building, Las Vegas. We also maintain satellite facilities away from these main complexes including the Desert Free Air CO₂ Enrichment (FACE) facility at the Nevada Test Site. DEES scientists work in close collaboration with researchers in DRI's two other Divisions, Atmospheric Sciences and Hydrologic Sciences, and with departments and research centers at the University of Nevada, Reno and Las Vegas, and other campuses both in-state and outside Nevada. DEES research covers all continents and many of the world's major environmental systems.

DEES facilities consist of state-of-the-art laboratories for a broad range of research interests and a curation facility for storage of artifacts. The main DEES facilities are at the Northern Nevada Science Center (NNSC) in Reno, Nevada with additional facilities at DRI's Las Vegas campus which include the Southern Nevada Science Center and the Science and Technology Building.

Other Southern Nevada facilities include the Nevada Desert Research Center located within the U.S. Department of Energy's Nevada Test Site.
