The latest weather systems have increased our water supply, reducing the strain of the drought. Laura Edwards, an assistant research climatologist with the Western Regional Climate Center, says we are currently at a D-2 to D-3 on the drought classification table with the potential of seeing a D-1 rating.

Drought Classifications:

  • D-0 Abnormally Dry
  • D-1 Moderate Drought
  • D-2 Severe Drought
  • D-3 Extreme Drought
  • D-4 Exceptional Drought
