Amelia Gulling

Amelia Gulling started administering the Desert Research Institute’s K-12 Education and Outreach program, GreenPower in July of 2012. She has a duel undergraduate degree in Environmental Science and Education with a master’s degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management.

Since Amelia arriving to Las Vegas in 2012, she has helped create the Nevada EnergySmart Program, serves as a Board Member for Green Chips,   the US Green Building Council, the Governor’s Workforce Investment Board on Clean Energy, the Raggio Research Center on STEM, and the Hannah Brown Community  Development Corporation. Outside of her board position she also  participates in other collaborative environmental education efforts across the state. These efforts has led to recent awards such as; Las Vegas Women to Watch for 2013, USGBC Amazing Individual 2012, Friend of Science 2013 from Southern Nevada Science Teacher Association, and Best Green Nonprofit 2013 from the RJ.

Justin Jones

Justin joined DRI in 2014 to fill the position of GreenPower Coordinator in Reno.  He brings a diverse background to his role including promotion of energy and climate policy to Congressional leaders, management of environmental researchers contracted with public land management agencies and University Outreach.  Justin has several years of public policy experience with environmental issues as well as an extensive history in community outreach and event management. He completed his Masters of Science in Environmental Science and Policy at George Mason University in Virginia.  His academic interests include energy policy, sustainability and their economic impacts. Justin has lived in Reno and Truckee for most of the past 14 years and can be found riding his bicycles, skiing or traveling in his spare time.

Craig Rosen has been in the field of informal education and administration throughout his career.  Now serving as the GreenPower Southern Nevada Coordinator, he is responsible for supporting educators and running the statewide Green Box program for DRI.  Prior to this, Craig served as the Executive Director for the Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival bringing together 27,000 members of the community to engage in science exploration.  Craig has also served as lead consultant for the Union for Reform Judaism in the area of informal education and has been the Director of Education at schools in both Las Vegas, NV and Santa Barbara, CA.  He is married and has 1 daughter who he loves to spend time with playing her favorite princess games.

Mackenzie Peterson


Mackenzie Peterson began working for DRI GreenPower in October of 2013, shortly after graduating from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with an undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies. She provides support to the entire team in her role as GreenPower Assistant. Mackenzie also works in the Sustainability Office of the City of Las Vegas, where she assists with advancing the city’s sustainable initiatives. She has extensive experience working with children of all ages, in both formal and informal settings. Outside of work, Mackenzie enjoys reading a good book and spending time outdoors with her Belgian Malinois, Titan.
