2017 DRI Nevada Medal – Special Tuesday Event

Science Distilled Morning Edition

“Women Shaping the Future of Science and Technology"

Who and What:

As part of the 2017 Nevada Medal events, the Desert Research Institute (DRI) invites community members to attend a special morning edition of our Science Distilled public lecture series in partnership with The Discovery.

Hosted by Cassie Wilson of KRNV, this unique event will introduce community members to three distinguished women shaping the future of science and technology:

  • Dr. Marcia McNutt, President of the National Academy of Sciences and 2017 DRI Nevada Medalist
  • Missy Young, Chief Information Officer for Switch
  • Dr. Kristen Averyt, President of the Desert Research Institute

When and Where:

  • Tuesday, September 26, 2017
  • 9:00 - 10:30 am
  • DRI (2215 Raggio Parkway) – Stout Conference Room; and live video feed to DRI's Las Vegas campus - SNSC Room 182


  • The 2017 Nevada Medal Honoree, Dr. Marcia McNutt, has served as a pioneer for women in science throughout her career, DRI is proud to invite our community to take part in this special celebration of Women Shaping the Future of Science and Technology.
  • Join DRI in honoring these three influential and accomplished luminaries.
  • Attendees will take part in a live, interactive discussion where panelist will share their stories, inspirations, passions, and achievements.

In the spirit of the 2017 Nevada Medal theme, “What Will Tomorrow Bring?”, DRI invites community members to take part in a special interactive panel discussion with three influential and accomplished Women Shaping the Future of Science and Technology.
