Justin Broglio is the Desert Research Institute's Public Information Officer, based in Reno. He joined DRI in August 2012 and plays a key role in implementing DRI's comprehensive public relations and communications efforts. He oversees DRI's website content and hands-on social media engagement and serves as the liasion between DRI faculty/staff and media outlets. Justin is the primary spokesperson for the Reno campus. Justin joins DRI after more than six years marketing and promoting the Lake Tahoe region and the local Reno/Lake Tahoe tourism industry. As the Executive Director of the Tahoe City Downtown Association, he worked to help sustain and enhance one of Lake Tahoe’s primary commercial districts by connecting to visitors, residents and business owners through social media, email newsletters and an expanded year-round special event schedule. As the Director of Operations for SnowBomb.com and LiftTickets.com he helped develop the company’s web and social media presence and strategy, managed customer service for one of the nation’s leading online lift ticket providers and coordinated numerous special events each year. Justin is also the President of the Sierra Avalanche Center, which provides a free daily avalanche advisory for winter backcountry users in the Central Sierra Nevada Mountains between Yuba Pass to the North and Ebbetts Pass to the South. Justin has a degree in Natural Resource Ecology and Conservation from the University of Idaho. |
