Title: Graduate Research Assistant Professional InterestsClint's research interests are focused on the ecological role of stream benthic (bottom) communities and their potentialas ecosystem “health” indicators. Previously, he has been involved in developing and implementing bioassessment efforts (macroinvertebrate and periphyton-based) in the Sierra-Nevada and Great Basin regions, with a primary focus on attached algal assemblages (periphyton). He hopes to integrate his knowledge of these stream producer and consumer communities to aid in efforts to monitor the ecological integrity of montane-desert streams, as well as to expand the baseline information regarding food web dynamics in these systems. Clint also wants to continue to broaden his knowledge-base of the physical, chemical and biological processes that act across a hierarchy of scales to ultimately determine the ecologicalfunction of these trophic levels.
