CERM groundwater management model
Building successful programs for the U.S. Department of Energy and other sponsors requires innovation, focus, and commitment. Over the years CERM has proven its resolve by being at the forefront. Through interdisciplinary research, DRI scientists have developed groundwater management models to identify proposed water well locations and assess their impact on the original site. Joint efforts between multiple agencies have produced programs like the Community Environmental Monitoring Program (CEMP), which involves stakeholders in radiation and meteorological monitoring at 29 stations in three states around the Nevada Test Site. Studies include risk assessment and remediation into the consequences of fire on the stability of soil contamination in our constantly changing climate. Results from studies such as these can be used to advance new designs, methods, and technologies to better protect human health and the environment. |
