Welcome to the office of the Executive Vice President for Research (EVPR). This office has two main roles: (1) facilitating and advocating the research activities of DRI's faculty and (2) developing business structures and opportunities to enrich DRI's role and reputation with research sponsors; local, state, and federal government representatives; and the Reno, Las Vegas, and rural Nevada communities.
With respect to research, the EVPR has several key responsibilities, including (1) facilitating the ability of DRI's faculty to conduct research and develop research programs by managing the investment of institutional resources and support services; (2) promoting and advocating DRI's research activities and successes, both internally and externally; and (3) ensuring that DRI stays in strict compliance with Federal and State regulations regarding research practices and quality, which includes serving as a member of the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Research Affairs Council (RAC).
In DRI's business-development role, the EVPR office is charged with management of DRI's Applied Research Initiative—a state-funded challenge-grant program to facilitate (1) economic diversification through the development of new technologies and high technology companies in Nevada, and (2) the development of solutions to major environmental problems facing the residents of Nevada.
