Site Evaluation for the New Las Vegas Cargo Airport

TITLE:Meteorological Modeling Study for Site Evaluation of the Planned Location for the New Las Vegas-Jean Cargo Airport
P.I.:Darko Koracin
Sponsor:Nevada International Industrial Air Center
Duration:February 97 - March 97

The objective of the research was to provide the most probable (predicted) information on local surface and upper air winds as well as basic meteorology at the planned airport location. Since measurements were only available at points far from the planned site, an annual numerical simulation was made of atmospheric processes in the region. Model evaluation as well as a detailed analysis of the simulation results were provided. Daily and annual wind characteristics were predicted (average and maximum), and locations for monitoring were determined.
