Ratios of extinction-to-absorption efficiency (a), predicted for wavelengths of 0.532 µm and 10.8 µm, respectively, as a function of the size distribution median mass dimension. While tunneling does not change these curves much, no tunneling is assumed here except in the case of spheres. Size spectra similar to the one shown in Fig. 4 are necessary to achieve these high ratios.
