Interests
Mr. Memmott is a biologist with over 6 years of experience as a field technician and laboratory manager with participation in projects focusing on microbial ecology in aquatic systems. He has conducted field data collection and laboratory sample analysis in the US and in Antarctica. Mr. Memmott’s research interests include limnology, quantitative chemical analysis related to aquatic systems, optical properties and light interactions in aquatic systems, and the application of geographic information systems in modeling system interactions. Mr. Memmott serves as manager of the Systems Microbial Ecology Laboratory and on the DRI Field Safety Committee. His previous experience includes monitoring of algal abundance and distribution in the Truckee and Carson Rivers, investigation of microbial system properties and distribution in Antarctica, and the analysis of biological samples including the use of fluorometry, spectrophotometry, chromatography and flow injection analysis.
