Water Resources Management Program
DRI faculty members participate in Atmospheric and Hydrologic Science graduate and undergraduate academic programs with University of Nevada, Reno, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and Nevada State College. Students conduct their research at DRI while earning their degrees through the universities. DRI provides a learning environment strongly focused on collaborative, interdisciplinary research.
Atmospheric Sciences Graduate Program
The Atmospheric Sciences Graduate Program for the Master's or Ph.D. degree is administered by the University of Nevada, Reno Graduate School and College of Science, with program teaching and management shared by the DRI Atmospheric Sciences faculty members and the UNR Department of Physics faculty. Students pursue topic areas such as dynamic meteorology, atmospheric physics, mesoscale modeling, fire weather and climate, atmospheric chemistry and instrument development.
Hydrologic Sciences Graduate Program
The Hydrologic Sciences Program through the University of Nevada, Reno, the Water Resources Management Program and Geosciences Department, through the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the Division of Hydrologic Sciences and the Division of Earth and Ecosystems Sciences of the Desert Research Institute are home to a diverse and active group of researchers and educators involved in the field of surface and subsurface aqueous environments. Areas of study include aqueous geochemistry, contaminant transport, isotope hydrology, global climate change, groundwater hydraulics, vadose zone hydrology, soil physics, surface water hydrology, water resources engineering and water policy and management.
Graduate instruction and assistantships are available through graduate programs at the University of Nevada, Reno and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with advisement by faculty at the University of Nevada, Reno, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the Desert Research Institute.
