Name: “My Five Senses”
Grade Level: K-1

Summary: Students will learn a lot about their five senses through books, games, activities, and posters as they progress through this science box. Hands on activities include a visit from a wizard and stations set up around the classroom so they can explore their five senses themselves. This kit will teach students how they figure out what is around them by using their five senses, and how they can learn more by using them as well.

Learning Cycle Lesson Plans: Here is the list of the lesson plans in this kit.

1. “The Wizardly Wizard” – This activity is designed so students help the Wizardly Wizard figure out how to learn about the world. They will all discover that we learn using our five senses. Also used in this activity are books and posters to help the kids learn as much as possible about their five senses.
2. “Senses Center: Using the Five Senses” – Students will use their five senses to explore and learn as the activities in this part of the kit are hands on experiments. Students will enjoy a different activity or game for each of the five senses.

What to Expect: By the end of this kit, students will know what their five senses are. Also they will know how to explore the world by using them to learn more. Finally they will relate things they can smell, touch, taste, see, and hear with their everyday lives out on the playground and at home.
