Content Strand: Environmental Science
Content Standard and Description:  In the Air Quality kit students will looking at the quality of air and how it affects us as humans, but also plants and animals.

Summary: 

What is Air, Climate Warming, Ozone, Greenhouse Effect, and what can we do to improve Air Quality.  Inside the kit are and background information on all the subjects listed so educators can explain these ideas to their students, activities, and current newspaper articles to help keep the traveling kit fresh and current.

Learning Cycle Lesson Plans: Here is the list of the lesson plans in this kit.

1. “Air Pollution” – This lesson introduces students to the concept of air pollution. By learning doing experiments, students learn that Air Pollution is outside and inside in essence all around us and what they to do to reduce the amount of it.

2. “What’s Ozone?  Ozone can be tricky to understand because it is used in many different ways and described in many different ways. – Students will be able to determine the different kinds of ozone by the activities included.

3. “What is Greenhouse Effect: – Students learn that is only a place where one can grow vegetables but also how it affects all of us.  Included are newspaper articles showing how greenhouse effects humans, plants, and animals in addition are activities to make the Greenhouse effect seem real right in their classroom.

4. “Climate warming” – Students will learn about both sides of the debate on Climate Warming.  In addition, have very up to date books to research the entire idea of Air Quality and Climate.

What to Expect: By the end of exploring the Air Quality box, teachers can expect their students to know how to observe and describe what Air Quality is and what they students can to make a difference in their world. (For example walking to school with a family member).
