Air Quality
Air Quality is the view point of this traveling kit. As the name Air Quality
implies we are looking at the quality of air and how it affects us as humans,
but also plants and animals. The traveling suitcase explores Air Quality
in many ways: What is Air, Climate Warming, Ozone, Greenhouse Effect, and
what can we do to improve Air Quality. Inside the kit are and background
information on all the subjects listed so educators can explain these ideas
to their students, activities, and current newspaper articles to help keep
the traveling kit fresh and current.
Box #48 – Grades 5-8
The Air We Breathe
There are five main components to the Traveling
Science Box “The Air
We Breathe”. They are: the atmosphere(structure and atmospheric processes),
the causes and effects of air pollution, the Ozone Layer and the impact on
life, measuring air quality through particulate matter, and the fifth and
final component discusses the controversial issue of Global Warming.
Box #49 – Grades 9-12
“The Quality of Our Air”
This curriculum unit contains background information for teachers, current
articles and selected readings, as well as hands on activities to enhance
students’ understanding of the air we breathe and the nature of pollutants
which might affect it.
