Professional Interests

  • Urban Infrastructure Planning
  • Transit Oriented Development
  • GIS

Dakota’s research interests are focused on transit oriented development (TOD) with a GIS emphasis. A TOD is a compact, high density, residential and commercial community that is focused on pedestrians and centered around a high quality public transit system. The TOD design is growing at the national and global levels and I intend to learn its methods and how to incorporate them into future national and global development/redevelopment plans. I also have an interest in using GIS programs to study the relationships between transportation, land use and environmental planning.
